For God is the King of all the earth: sing ye praises with understanding. — Psalm 47:7
I was recently watching the news and it was filled with talks of new leaders across the world. There was talk about a new president in the United States. An upcoming new leader in Canada. There was even talk about the potential of new leaders in other areas across the world.
We are all experienced in relationships with leaders. From our youth, we become accustomed to having leaders in parents, grandparents, teachers, and eventually, those we work for. In a variety of settings, we experience those who have authority over us and how we interact with them.
Throughout life, it can be easy to become distracted with these leaders and all the different aspects involved. We may experience a variety of emotions from anxiety, depression, worry, fear, or even become infatuated with them. It can cause us to lose sight of one simple truth.
This Psalm reminds us that no matter who might be in authority over us in this world is ultimately subject to the authority of God. He is King of Kings and Lord of Lords! King of all the earth. There is nothing that is not subject to Him!
Don’t be discouraged or distracted by all the stories of this life. Instead, keep your eyes on the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Keep your eyes on the one who is in control of it all!
This really hits home for me today. My work has become very overwhelming. I needed that reminder!! Thank you
Jared, I needed to hear this message this morning. Thanks for the inspiration.
