Found doing good
If God were to examine your life today, would you be found to be doing “good” in the eyes of God?
Every one of them is gone back: they are altogether become filthy; there is none that doeth good, no, not one. — Psalm 53:3
I was standing in a group of people recently when they were talking about the most recent trends on social media. A few of them were sharing about something they had saw on TikTok. They followed up the description of the video by saying, “Of course, everyone is doing it.”
Several others were commenting after this, acknowledging that it seemed everyone on TikTok was taken with this new trend. As the conversation turned to me, I quickly told them I wasn’t aware of the trend. Since the group was mostly people who were younger than me, they found this funny and continued their conversation.
It can become easy to be caught up in the things that everyone else is doing. From social media trends, buying things, or just acting in a specific way, our human nature often shines through in being like everyone else. But God doesn’t expect us to be like everyone else.
I’m often reminded of this verse in Psalm 53 where everyone was doing things, but those things weren’t good. They were living lives that were not pleasing unto God. The description used was not that some were doing good, but that no one was doing good.
God doesn’t expect us to be like everyone else. The Bible shares that we are to be different. This difference is living a life that is acceptable to Him, even when everyone else doesn’t. If God were to examine your life today, would you be found to be doing “good” in the eyes of God?
