Filled with unknowns
No matter what may come our way in 2025, God has the mercies we will need.
It is of the LORD'S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness. — Lamentations 3:22-23
As the end of the year was approaching, I started having some discussions where people would ask about the next year. In one conversation, the person spoke about how rough their current year had been. They were hopeful for the new year and that it would bring about better circumstances.
Another shared their hopes for a great 2025. They were excited about what the new year might hold. They saw the new year with hope and full of potential. Then, they ended their positive statement by acknowledging the unknowns.
The new year will be filled with many unknowns. There will be 12 distinct months, 52 weeks, and 365 days and each will bring about new challenges. We don’t know what the days, weeks, and months will hold. Yet, we do know who holds them all.
The writer in these verses talked about the mercies of the Lord and how they were renewed each morning. It doesn’t matter what the days, weeks, and months that lie ahead of us in 2025 will hold, He has mercy and grace for us. Enough to help us through.
As we start into the new year with all its uncertainty, do not lose sight of the one who has it all under control. No matter what comes, God is in control and has the mercies we will need.
Earlier in 2024, the Lord showed me the genesis of Jeremiah's words. They were a direct response to those of Asaph in Psalms 77
Psalms 77:6 (ESV Strong's)
Then my spirit made a diligent search: 7 “Will the Lord spurn forever, and never again be favorable? 8 Has his steadfast love forever ceased? Are his promises at an end for all time? 9 Has God forgotten to be gracious? Has he in anger shut up his compassion?” Selah
